Yulia Brodskaya is an artist and illustrator born in 1983 in Moscow - Russia. She is very recognized for her astonishing, elegant and detailed paper illustrations. Currently based in the UK, where she went to continue her education in art at the University of Hertfordshire with a Master of Art in Graphics Communication degree in 2006. After getting her degree, Yulia continued to experiment and explore ways of bringing together all the things she likes most: typography, paper, and highly detailed hand-made craft objects.

The work of PoisonVectors is just a new level of portraits, mixing it up with a lot of abstract 3d and great final touch and colors it's amazing. This is definitely a new style that came up from the trendy of making full body portraits with abstract effects around it, the difference is that PoisonVectors took it to another level.

Amazing Works from the UU Challenge Finalists

The UU Challenge is a really interesting contest where 10 chosen artists were asked to create their own vision of the UU, in adition to that, they open the challenge to young designers around the world so the best 40 entries will be competing agaisnt the ten chosen artists and to make it even more interesting, they will have one representative that will create an image as well for the grand final. In the end, the 51 finalists and their works will be compiled into a book.

This project got my attention mainly by the form that the architects from GH+A treated the shapes and materials, with strong and straight lines and a contrast among glass, steel and concrete. A modern composition which the hand of an architect makes all the difference to get an outstanding result.

Im living in a safe city (lots of cameras) but it's still a place for people who express theirselve by painting the walls of out town. It was the most colorful picture on the screen, it was really eye-catching. I clicked on it immediately to take a closer look at the image. I found quite a few beautiful and colorful photos there. I liked them so much that I decided to pick some of them and share it with you guys.

I really thought we've already done a post about this guy, Tebe Interesno. I've seen his work earlier this year, and now on I've ran into him once more. He's a superb illustrator from a country with another writting system (probably Russia), and makes outstading illustrations in photographs.

I was browsing around the web searching for inspirational images, something that I do everyday, when I bumped into Bradley Sharp's work and really liked it. The image that got my attention was the first one from this selection, which by the way is already my new desktop wallpaper. Since I liked the style and the idea from that one image I decided to check out his portfolio for more stuff and noticed that it was pretty cool to show here to you. Wallpaper of the Week #97 - Ginger Monkey

The wallpaper of this week is a really cool image created by Tom Lane, the guy behind Ginger Monkey. We have already featured him and his work here on GenCept, and as he has just updated his portfolio he sent to us this beautiful wallpaper so we could share with the design community. Ricardo de Montreuil and his team of of creatives created a new short film called "The Raven". We follow powerfull Chris Black in a fight against high tech robots in a futuristic Los Angeles. With $ 5000 of budget and a RED camera he did a very good job.

The Impressive & Expressive Work from Calliopie

Yesterday I was browsing around deviantART and one image really got my attention... it was the Respiration Hollow Girl (first image from this selection) from Calliopie. The colors, the style, the feeling... everything about that piece got me in a way that is hard to explain, let's say I got enchanted. For me, that hollow girl had so much to say that it was better to stay still... After I got over the contemplation process - it took me a while - I decided to get get in touch with the artist to get to know more about her to write this post.

Ronah Carraro is 32 years old, born and raised on the traditional area of Mooca, Sao Paulo. Graduated in arts, very urban, amazed by the big concrete buildings that scrape the sky of the enormous Sao Paulo. Work as a designer and passes by different supports with his creations. From professional references he takes the vector lines from the digital universe and adds up to his works. Canvas, wood, paper, or graffiting on walls, his work depicts the behavioral diversity using vibrant colors with a line drive and striking.

Spectacular Stairs and Staircase Designs

When it comes to staircases, most architects stick to the basics, putting safety and stability before aesthetics. But others strive to have both, and in some cases, their creations become the focal point of a room – more art installation than functional architectural element. Spiral staircase designs are impressive but other creative stairs can be made of glass seemingly float on air, and innovative wooden creations serve as book storage and seating. These stair designs that go far beyond the basic, becoming works of art, ecological wonders and a means of rediscovering the child within.

Old School Skateboard Designs

Today we get to see a bunch of really well designed boards, but most of it doesn't have that same spirit of coolness, rather than just "well designed" or pretty. I vote for more old school design nowadays. Photoshop is the most powerful design tool since the pencil. Just recently turning 20, Photoshop has allowed designers to push the limits of creativity to new areas, we thought we would never reach. Joey Lawrence is a Canadian photographer, who's got big clients such as Warner Brothers Records and NBC, among others, and spends some time traveling around the world taking superb pictures. I mean... that's probably one of my biggest dreams, to photograph the world! And I was really surprised when I saw his picture in his 'about me', 'cause he looks really young! Makes me think that any of us, armed with a strong willing power, could fit his shoes. Way to go, Joey!
